Weekly mailing list is GOGOGOGOGGOGOGOGOG!

Okay! Zookoda has granted me broadcast permissions, so I can now officially run that mailing list.

Right now, the confirmation pages are generic, because I don’t have a minute to actually put together a real page here on my site, so forgive me for that. However, it is a subscription based mailing list, that you must opt in to receive content.

It should mail out early on the mornings on Saturdays, so you’ll get a weekly drop of everything that I’ve said here.

Warning: Hotmail might choke on the email, since it’s UTF-8, and Hotmail seems to have issues with that, according to the guys at Zookoda.

Sign up, and let me know what you think. :)

Giveaway of the Day!

So, I was reading Recommended last night, and I saw a post there pointing out a neat new website called [tag]Giveaway of the Day[/tag].

I’m liking this site, so far.

Each day, they offer one piece of software for free. It must be installed by midnight, PST, of the same day it is promoted, or you cannot activate the free registration. It can get you some interesting applications, too. Yesterday’s application is a program that essentially expands your copy/paste buffer, as well as offers you the ability to paste frequently used snippets of text that you can configure into the utility.

They also have a sister site, called Game Giveaway of the Day.
Today’s game happened to be Mahjongg Artifacts, which I’ve been playing this evening.
I’m happy to have a simple, enjoyable game of mahjongg to play. :)

Check out Giveaway of the Day, or just view my sidebar to see what’s going on. :)

Cell(re)fire.

So, earlier this week, I blogged about Cellfire, and how it was unavailable for Sprint PCS users (or anyone not on Cingular, for that matter).

Fortunately for me, the rest of my family are all Cingular customers, so they let me use their phone to test out the service.

It’s actually pretty easy. They send a 71kb applet to your phone that you run. Feed it a zip code, and it connects to grab all available offers in your area.

I just need to get my aunt’s phone working, so she can use it on hers. I put it on her husband’s phone at the time. Now, if only Hollywood Video was closer to us… :)

I’m expecting to see some great offers pop up around Thanksgiving, though (hint: Get Subway and Quizno’s on the ball next!). It’s gotta be something good to get the ball rolling. :)
Either way, Cellfire is actually pretty sweet. :)

Get your coupons with Cellfire!

@ppp@
I just recently joined the cellular age, by getting my own cell phone a couple of months ago.

I’m still discovering the plethora of applications that can be applied to these things, such as games, various web browsers, instant messengers, and others. But, there’s one thing I didn’t know that could be done with cell phones: Save money.

Enter Cellfire, a service that lets you snag available coupons and save them to your phone. Then, it’s as simple as showing your phone to the clerk at participating locations to get your discount. You don’t even need a printer, a secret handshake, or a blood ritual! Just make a purchase, show the clerk your phone, and boom, discount!

Cellfire is currently available to Cingular Wireless customers, and they make it very easy to get your FREE copy of Cellfire to start saving today.

The best part about Cellfire is, your only costs to get, and use the service is whatever your provider charges you for data. So, if you are getting charged $0.01 per kilobyte, and Cellfire itself is a one time download of around 71 kilobytes… and the average coupon is just a kilobyte or two… :) You come out quite ahead of the game in this case.

As I mentioned earlier, Cellfire is available only to Cingular Wireless customers in the USA which leaves me sad (author’s note: Please support Sprint, Together With Nextel next!) and fireless for now, but they are working on becoming available through other providers as soon as possible.
I almost regret not going with Cingular now as my provider… :)

Fortunately, if you’re on a provider that’s not supported yet, you can submit your number to receive a ONE TIME (important!!) text message, notifying you of the availability of the service.

(Although I am being compensated for this entry, I really am waiting to see this rolled out on Sprint. Gives me a legit use to whip out my phone. :))

So, I was doing some more reading over at Recommended last night, and I noticed the topbar, and a series of links there.

One of the link icons was a bit illegible for me (curse these olde eyes, lah), but it lead to a place called ‘[tag]freecycle[/tag].org’.

Now, the name initially made me think, “Hm, are they operating some sort of bicycle pool, or even giving away bicycles? What’s the catch?”
So, of course, being one of those fools into getting things for free, I checked out the link.
Although it wasn’t what I initially thought of it, it’s just as good.
People all over the world have developed groups where they can leave things up for people to pick up if they are looking for it, while asking others for things they could actually use. All this activity rescues things from heading to the landfill, and essentially encourages [tag]recycling[/tag] at a very useful level.

This is something I, too, can honestly recommend.

Freecycle.org. Check it out. :)

Psalms of Planets.

Lately, I’ve been watching less television.

It’s not entirely my fault. There’s just so little on during the week, on [as].
However, I’ve been watching «Psalms of Planets [tag]Eureka Seven[/tag]».

It’s another [tag]mecha anime[/tag], but that’s quite okay with me. I enjoy my big robots a LOT. ;) There’s also a lot of skyboarding (called ‘lifting’ or ‘reffing’ depending on your region), which reminds me a LOT of my favorite thing to do in [tag]Second Life[/tag].

Although I have only seen two episodes of Eureka Seven, I can definitely say that I’d recommend it to anyone who likes mecha.
Of course, there’s also the option to watch episodes legally online for free at AnimeVillage.com, as well as buy these episodes as they come online. Now, remember, the episodes rotate each week on Saturday night, matching the [as] display schedule rather closely. This means you can still catch Episode 2 on AnimeVillage at this moment. :)

Enjoy. :)

Jamendo.

So, a few posts back, I mentioned I was looking for free, legal music to listen to.
The guys over at OverClocked Remix haven’t released a torrent for 1250-1500 yet, which would make for tedious work, finding where the last torrent left off, and picking up from there, downloading each song manually.

Magnatune has nice music, but to get a download that doesn’t have a bunch of junk appended to it requires money.

Weed is defintely not an option - not only does it cost me something, it’s also DRM’ed, AND Windows Media. That means I’d have hell playing it where I’d like. I think my Lyra’s too old to even support WMA DRM, which really rules it out.

So, that left me something to ponder as I was surfing around on BlogExplosion. I regret not blogmarking the blog that had the link, but one blog I was reading through had a link to a service named Jamendo.
