Complacency, indeed.

Since I found out I have Diabetes, I’ve been strangely complacent, and accepting of most of the changes I’ve had to make to my lifestyle.

I’m a little upset that I’ve had to give up beers, wines, and ales, since I was just starting to discover and enjoy some of those, but not as upset as I thought I’d be. After all, even when I was partaking of them, I wasn’t drinking them often, or drinking much of them, either.

I’ve made a fair switch to sugar-free soft drinks, finding that those sweetened with a blend of artificial sweeteners to be much more palatable than those sweetened solely with aspartame. So I get to keep my (diet) Mountain Dew, but can’t really do the (diet) Pepsi right now.

My blood sugar seems to be mostly regulated right now, hovering around 98-115 when fasting, and maybe around 140 two hours after eating.

I was bad the other day – I had chicken nuggets and a small order of french fries, because I wanted them so badly. Felt a little off-kilter as a result, but there was no nasty spike in my blood sugar as a result. Hell, it still was low even after all that. :)

What I do wish I could find would be chicken nuggets that aren’t breaded, and instead of fried, they’re baked, but then again, I could just get chicken and make that myself. :)

I do miss barbecue sauce, though – holy crap, didn’t know it was THAT loaded with carbs and sugar.

Artificially Sweetened Post.

It’s been a long time since I actually spent a few minutes talking here.

There’s a lot going on in my life, and some of it causes the biggest changes. Namely, I’ve had some health issues going on over the past month. It started with bronchitis (so it seemed), with coughing, wheezing, dizziness and night sweats. The urgent care clinic prescribed a couple of medicines that were just ridiculously expensive, and I had the scrips shot down for tried and true alternatives that were covered by my insurance.

Got over the inflamed tubes, so I thought. Some tiredness, body aches, a little nausea still going on in the J camp at the time, so I shrugged it off initially, thinking I picked up a cold.

Then the thirst started.
