Comment Tips

(also known as “How to Comment on Just Like (a) Human“)

Commenting here is relatively simple.

In its simplest form, all you need to do is give me a name, a valid email address (which is: Never shown to the public unless YOU put it in the BODY of the comment; only used by me, should I choose to reply to your comment, as I tend to reply in a personal manner, as well as in public), and your comment itself. If you’d like, you can also include a URL.

If you have an OpenID (Anyone using the most recent versions of Livejournal’s codebase, including Livejournal itself will generally have an OpenID), you may use the login page with the OpenID to generate a profile here. With this profile, you may comment, with information automatically saved for each visit. Therefore, you wouldn’t have to keep filling in the form repeatedly with your name and an email address.

With apologies to inames users, it seems this OpenID plugin is slightly broken to your service.
You should be able to log in and comment, but editing a profile might be a little touchy, since WordPress appears to be trying to sanitize your username, and is having difficulties in doing so!

You may also optionally register an account directly, but be aware: The email address MUST be valid! These accounts will have the same amount of access as an OpenID account, but are not portable. It is preferred that you use your OpenID.

I am NOT ABLE to retrieve your passwords if you register. Please make sure your email address is valid.

All comments will pass through Akismet. Truly spammy comments will be eaten by Akismet (which at this update has eaten about 57,000 comments since its installation, with only a handful of false positives). Borderline comments will be presented directly to me for approval — Please, do not resend the same comment, or you’ll be eaten as regular spam by Akismet. Registered user comments will generally make it onto the blog, once I’ve approved the first comment.

ATTN: LiveJournal visitors! I DO NOT receive comment notifications from my feed (lj:xial_wp: is the official feed over there, though I understand that there is another feed or two as well). PLEASE, don’t comment there, because not only do I never see them, but they disappear after 2 weeks.
