I’m gaining a bunch of weight, and I’m not sure why…

When I went to donate blood plasma last Friday, they checked my weight. I’m actually gaining weight for some reason, and I’m not entirely sure just why I’m getting heavier.

I know that I’ve been eating more since I went to the Salvation Army, but they have a NASTY habit of feeding us mainly carbohydrates, and not enough protein to satisfy me. I like lots of meat and less bread when I’m eating meals, and I’m fine with carbs when I’m snacking. I would love more meat in my diet, but short of resorting to Burger King every time I go up somewhere, I don’t think I’m getting enough protein.

As a result, I’ve gone from 313 pounds to about 321 pounds, and this is leaving me slightly distressed. I don’t want to get any fatter than I am, and I’m getting far more exercise per day here than I was when I was at home.

I’m hoping that it’s my legs building up their mass again, rather than me growing a bigger, fatter American behind. :B

( p.s.: I miss cooking. :(! )

(((Xial))) Unfortunately, stress makes you hang onto fat cells. You’ve certainly had your share of stress here lately. Also, if you’re suddenly eating less than you were, your metabolism goes into starvation mode and shuts down.

LaDonna, strange thing is, it’s the being in that place that has given me a chance to eat more and more, rather than less and less. While I was at that place I used to call home, I would perhaps eat a slice of toast for breakfast and lunch, and maybe a little more for dinner.

With these guys at the Salvation Army, I’m gaining a lot of weight, and it’s actually a little disturbing to me (Yeah, I’m calling 10 pounds a lot).

I get plenty of exercise now, because I have to walk everywhere that the bus system doesn’t reach, and I’m hoping that this is why my weight gain is just so rapid.

My metabolism is more of a joke than anything else. <:)

Well there are two reasons you’re gaining weight. What happens is just much stress, it’s actually what’s in that food.

When I was at the homeless shelter I gained a lot of weight due to the kinds of crap stuffed in those meals, lots of stuff that makes you fat.

Wonderful fatty stuff, you thought would be healthy but the prepackaged contents and having to serve massive amounts of meals to people well, all those additives get you.
