Pardon the dust, and the really unstyled look.
I’m trying to get a lot of things done today.
Someone has finally created and released an OpenID plugin for WordPress. I’ll be working on installing this at some point today — it’s something I have been wanting to see for a long time. Then those of you who do visit and want to comment can do so with your OpenIDs. Livejournal users, yes, you by default have an OpenID: It’s j00.livejournal.com, where j00 is j00r– erm, your username.
It’s nice to sign in, without having to sign up.
Tried to install it, and it HATED me. Restored from backup.
As per the look, I’m going to be skinning the Sandbox theme for WordPress, since it offers a Widgets-ready three column look, which is what I really was wanting a few days ago. With the three columns, I can actually keep things on my sidebar, and not have them go quite as far down.
If the blogroll limiter comes back, then I can display fewer links, while randomly rotating through them.
The main page (pixelechoes.net/) is going to get a change, too, to remove some of its impact on the database here. I’ll be experimenting with SimplePie to get some sort of caching going on, and maybe even more information on the main page. Might end up making it some sort of miniportal, including useful news and links, rather than just that almost bare page. It needs a redesign, though — I can’t add an extra menu, and expect IE to not throw up on it.
I’m also trying to finish this project for Dan. The tables are slowing me down, since I was so used to divs. However, trying to position this data in divs is turning out to be quite futile, and for once, the use of tables in this case is quite legitimate. I just want to keep it as minimal as possible, so that when I get it all finished, I can go back, and restyle everything in one attack — just a stylesheet, and bingo.
I’ve a lot to do today.
