I’ve got the day off, and I’ve been doing some job searches.
I got the bright idea to do some housecleaning today, and I noticed something:

I need things to put stuff on. Shelves or what-have-ye. Just stuff that will let me put boxes and old hardware up, and do so securely. The problem is, unlike my old house, where the walls were concrete or wood, this new house has some sort of soft stuff that covers the walls. (I know it’s soft, because I accidentally raked my fingernails over one of the walls, and it flaked off underneath my fingernails in the most annoying way.) Dunno what the hell it’s called, either.

I’m wondering if there’s an easy way to find, say, some sort of support column behind this stuff, without going out to buy a stud detector. There’s a lot of stuff my family’s wanted to hang on the walls, but the last time they tried it, they didn’t find the stud. Therefore, it just came falling off the wall shortly after it was put up.

Once we figure that out… I can finally have shelves to put my extra stuff on, like my imported non-perishable foods (pho, tom yum, etc etc), my GameCube, my Dreamcasts, etc.

I could finally unpack.
