Writing a book.
A long time ago, I had this want. I wanted to write a bunch of stuff — short stories, and what not, put them together, and make a book or two out of it.
I just don’t quite know where I’d start with the whole thing, once I got the material written, or how much it’d cost.
Plus, what would I do with the book, once it was written? Where would I sell it? How would I sell it?
I’m not even sure what I’d put in the book at the moment, either.
Maybe I’d go back and dust off that old series I started years ago, clean it up, and make it into bookworthy material. Then I’d have a reason to finish part two of it, and move on to part three. But then comes the whole ‘finding a publisher’ bit, and paying their costs, and then hoping I could sell enough copies to at least break even.
I guess I’ll chew on this for a bit longer.
I love books. I would definitely be willing to proofread for you if you ever want it.
Hi there fellow PPPer!
When you write stories, it won’t cost you anything. There’s an entire market out there for short stories/e-books that aren’t mainstream.

If you’re interested, this is a fantastic place to learn from other writers/authors.
Depending on what you want to do with the book, it may or may not cost you something. Don’t think that just because something costs that it’s a bad thing, and don’t think that just because something doesn’t cost that it is good.
Publishing a book will usually cost something, though not a terrible lot. You may be interested in trying out BookSelecta, which I’ve been tempted to try myself (The website seems to be misbehaving with me — an FF issue?) once I’ve got enough written to make a book. If I recall correctly, they charge you some small fee and host an e-book version of it for some time, before finally publishing it.
The terms are all on their site, though, so you can read those to get the whole idea.
