How gadgets work: Gas Turbines

I’ll admit to being a bit of a nerd at times, wondering how things work.

Since airplanes have been heavily in the news lately, it would stand to question for just a moment, how a gas turbine works.

When you’re dealing with gas turbines in aeronautics, it can be an interesting thing, as I found out in this article. These engines are complex, and simple at the same time. There’re four stages, but I couldn’t describe them as well as they have, without plagiarizing their work.

I also found out more — Whenever I hear the name Rolls-Royce, I think of what many consider to be the penultimate in luxury automotives, both in quality and in style. I didn’t know that Rolls-Royce also did aeronautics work, which leaves me feeling quite impressed.
