It seems that TechCrunch had an article on blog advertising, specifically, about PayPerPost.

This comes after the big news announcement about securing the $3,000,000 in venture capital.

It interests me, because I tend to wander around the blogosphere to see how things are being taken. Little things like, “How is the adoption rate for (insert new service here)?” are what draws me into focus.

It seems that there are people out there griping (still) that PayPerPost is the next Internet evil, over in the comments there. A lot of complaint seems to still be emanating on the whole (lack of) disclosure by people who participate in this program.

There’s also an audiocast (to hell with ‘pod-’ — I’m not an iPod user, damnit) available, linked to the entry that I’m listening to. So far, it seems a bit too… shoppish for me to understand. I’ve never been all that big on knowing how companies tick, and they’re talking about a lot of valuation hoo-hah.
I do trust it’ll be better later on in the cast, though.

Tell me, though, what are YOUR thoughts on PayPerPost? I’d be quite interested in knowing, since it does affect you, my readers. :)

I ended up expressing my thoughts over at TechCrunch, as well.

Yes, I’m being paid to talk about this, by PayPerPost.

Writing a book.

A long time ago, I had this want. I wanted to write a bunch of stuff — short stories, and what not, put them together, and make a book or two out of it.

I just don’t quite know where I’d start with the whole thing, once I got the material written, or how much it’d cost.

Plus, what would I do with the book, once it was written? Where would I sell it? How would I sell it?

I’m not even sure what I’d put in the book at the moment, either.

Maybe I’d go back and dust off that old series I started years ago, clean it up, and make it into bookworthy material. Then I’d have a reason to finish part two of it, and move on to part three. But then comes the whole ‘finding a publisher’ bit, and paying their costs, and then hoping I could sell enough copies to at least break even.

I guess I’ll chew on this for a bit longer.

I’ll admit to being a bit of a nerd at times, wondering how things work.

Since airplanes have been heavily in the news lately, it would stand to question for just a moment, how a gas turbine works.

When you’re dealing with gas turbines in aeronautics, it can be an interesting thing, as I found out in this article. These engines are complex, and simple at the same time. There’re four stages, but I couldn’t describe them as well as they have, without plagiarizing their work.

I also found out more — Whenever I hear the name Rolls-Royce, I think of what many consider to be the penultimate in luxury automotives, both in quality and in style. I didn’t know that Rolls-Royce also did aeronautics work, which leaves me feeling quite impressed. :)

Truly impressive, as is PayPerPost.
