I feel like a nasty bastard.

I’m thinking that the guy running SplogSpot is just taking everything in as it comes.

Personally, all it takes is someone or several someones willing to work together to contaminate the database there.
I mean, if Bob decides to add Microsoft.com, Apple.com, Linux.com, Slashdot.org, and Technorati.com all in the same day (with the bookmarklet they offer, no less!), and then tells his friends to add five of their own, and then those friends tell their friends to do the same…

The database that is in use would become plainly useless.
It already looks like that is happening - some of the positives aren’t even positives.

I’m just a quiet, normal blogger in Tampa, who sometimes speaks passionately for or against something I believe in. I’m hardly a splog — I do like to cite references, and sometimes point at products I like. I also am trying to make an honest buck by posting the occasional advertisement in my weblog (via PayPerPost.com), since I know that banner ads and text ads are generally ignored by the masses. It’s easier to skip a post if it bothers you, is what I feel. Plus, the payouts are far better with PayPerPost than they were with ANY of the previous advertisers I tried.

Combined, Google AdSense, AdBrite, and Chitika brought in a whopping fifty cents.

If trying to make an honest buck to do things like, uh, pay for my domain name, etc etc… gets me counted as a splog, then SplogSpot needs to count itself as a splog, and lose all credibility, what with the random links all over the place that aren’t in their list.

You noticed it too, mm? I had entered a few random keywords to see what I would get, and almost each time I got at least one valid blog (which I simply had to mark as valid!). My appreciation for that site went to the dumps - a crappy filter is much worse than no filter.
