She is home. :)

Well, as some of you all know, I just moved into another house earlier this month.

What I hadn’t posted was that shortly after we moved in, we had to hospitalize my mother, who was having trouble breathing, and sitting up in general. The doctors at the local hospital found blood clots around her lungs, and put her on heparin sodium to help clear that up. They also told her that she was grossly overweight (She outweighs me, and I weigh about 315 lbs), and needed desperately to lose some of her weight.

She’s diabetic, and has been so for about 10 years now. She wouldn’t stick to their suggested diets, because she’s just that stubborn.

I do hope she listens now, and starts to lose some of her weight. I can’t afford to lose her right now.

She’s been in the hospital for about ten days, but we got a call this morning. They released her a little earlier today, and, as I type, she is sitting in a chair in our new living room, complaining that she’s cold. :)

I’m glad to have her home.

So, I was doing some more reading over at Recommended last night, and I noticed the topbar, and a series of links there.

One of the link icons was a bit illegible for me (curse these olde eyes, lah), but it lead to a place called ‘[tag]freecycle[/tag].org’.

Now, the name initially made me think, “Hm, are they operating some sort of bicycle pool, or even giving away bicycles? What’s the catch?”
So, of course, being one of those fools into getting things for free, I checked out the link.
Although it wasn’t what I initially thought of it, it’s just as good.
People all over the world have developed groups where they can leave things up for people to pick up if they are looking for it, while asking others for things they could actually use. All this activity rescues things from heading to the landfill, and essentially encourages [tag]recycling[/tag] at a very useful level.

This is something I, too, can honestly recommend.

Freecycle.org. Check it out. :)

Psalms of Planets.

Lately, I’ve been watching less television.

It’s not entirely my fault. There’s just so little on during the week, on [as].
However, I’ve been watching «Psalms of Planets [tag]Eureka Seven[/tag]».

It’s another [tag]mecha anime[/tag], but that’s quite okay with me. I enjoy my big robots a LOT. ;) There’s also a lot of skyboarding (called ‘lifting’ or ‘reffing’ depending on your region), which reminds me a LOT of my favorite thing to do in [tag]Second Life[/tag].

Although I have only seen two episodes of Eureka Seven, I can definitely say that I’d recommend it to anyone who likes mecha.
Of course, there’s also the option to watch episodes legally online for free at AnimeVillage.com, as well as buy these episodes as they come online. Now, remember, the episodes rotate each week on Saturday night, matching the [as] display schedule rather closely. This means you can still catch Episode 2 on AnimeVillage at this moment. :)

Enjoy. :)

I was reading a physical copy of the Trib today while at work, and it seems that I am right about one thing:
Watch what you say online [l]. It really can come back to haunt you.

It does seem that things you say or do online may be noticed by potential employers, of which some have begun digging through search engines, MySpace profiles, and anything else that gives them information.
Information that YOU, dear users, are freely giving them.

What’s amusing is, The Wayback Machine never forgives (hint). You can’t always take it back, either. Somewhere out there, it’s in the cache of someone’s computer.

Perhaps this is why I keep blogging sensible things…? I’d recommend that, and a dose of moderation in what you post to MySpace, LiveJournal, etc etc. :)

(This is why you almost never hear about my job. :))

Okay, after a brief hiatus that ensues my moving to a new home, and a little bit of hospital time (more on that later), I finally have a new renter of the space on this blog.

Recommended has piqued my interests enough to distract me even further from the tasks at hand (unpacking, laundry, putting things up, etc etc), and should be of interest to those of you looking for cool things to play with, both online and offline.

Feel free to give the blog a read. It’s Recommended. :)

[ESL] is moving!

This will likely be the last post I write from my current house here.
As I type, most of the house is packed up, and loaded on a U-Haul Truck of DEATH outside. This computer and a bit of other fluff is all that remains for me to pack up, so I shall also depart soon.

The downside: I’ll be offline for a couple of days while I wait for all services to be restored at the new house.
I may have to switch jobs to be sure I can foot my bills.

The upside:
I will be much, much closer to in-town things, shopping, better job opportunities, social spots, etc.
I might not have to live my life on the computer, if I make friends up that way.
I will be merely a few blocks away from a park I used to go to as a kid, with my dad. That means free exercise. I might even take up Tennis or something, since there are actually tennis courts there. :)
I will have real privacy!
I may have to switch jobs to be sure I can foot my bills.

Wish us luck as we break in a new house!

Cheers,
— the staff and author at Eau Salée Lunaire.
