Well, I spend a little time reading off the WordPress Dashboard, and shoveling around Digg, and today, I found an interesting little doohickey called Meebo.
What IS Meebo, you ask?
Meebo is, in simple essences, an AJAX multi-network Instant Messaging client.
That is, there’s no Java and no Flash for this interface. It’s 100% HTML, Javascript, Images, and CSS.
By this description, you’d think it’s ‘meh’, would you not?
Well, I’ve to tell you, that no, Meebo rocks your fucking socks, hip kittens.
Given its initial launch, it is expected to be missing a few things, but even so, it is still bleeding awesome. It scales well with my need to resize displayed text to a larger font, without destroying its own appearance. You can move the instant message windows around with ease.
Right now, some of the things I would like to ask for is:
Jabber support, so I can GTalk from the Public Library, if need be. — Dedicated GTalk signin + Dedicated Jabber signin available.
The Buddy list window to not constantly snap to the right hand side of my viewport.
Better handling of the display when I’m resizing my browser — that is, fewer scrollbars, both horizontal and vertical.
User accounts for Meebo itself, so I can visit Meebo.com, sign in as Xial, and on that sign-in form, fill in checkmarks for which services I would like to automatically log in to. — That’s been done.
The ability to start a new IM with someone not on my buddy list (though that’s been asked for).
And, of course, the ever-inevitable “I’d like your privacy policy, please.”
They also have the beginnings of a privacy policy up and at ‘em on their site.
(image was removed because, haha, I goofballed on editing out someone’s screen name.)
* Note: I used my throwaway accounts to log in to the service, because I don’t know just how well we can trust them. I’m sure we’ll see one out of them soon, though. ![]()

Screw the privacy policy, I want their T.O.S. first.

Speaking of privacy policies, your name obscuring is only slightly successful. ^.~
