Having babies, Lacking responsibility.

I’d like to take a few minutes here of your time to talk about babies having babies.

In my books, if you’re not old enough to exercise the right to vote in the United States, you’re not old enough to have a baby.

Some of you know that I have two half-sisters (same mother, different father) that are younger than I am. I’m 23, they’re 20 and 18 (I believe). Each of my half sisters already have a child. Seems one of them got herself a GED or some sort of diploma from a special school for underaged mothers, from what I’ve picked up, but…

Each of them had babies before finishing school. Both of them are on Welfare, as is their mother, whom they live with. Combined, they have about $1000 in income per month, last I heard. They live in a housing project, so bills are at a bare minimum.

Conversely, I live with my grandmother, and pull in about $700 per month, of which the majority of it goes to bills – electric, phone (that I currently share with the family; I’m also replacing my microphone so I can use SkypeIn/SkypeOut on my PC), water, debt repayment, gasoline, food, and ‘rent’. I honestly spend about $50 a month on *me* – things to keep me from going flat out nuts and feel like I’m working and working and getting absolutely nothing from the effort. Half of that me-money is spent on Second Life, which I still play with some frequency. The rest goes toward frivolous things, such as my gallon-a-day Pepsi addiction, etc.

I still say they’re better off, financially: They don’t have jobs and pull in more cash than I do, and I have a job.

Overall, however, I’m better off than they are.
I don’t have to feed children, change diapers, put up with their ungodly crying fits, etc.

All I really need to do is work on my resume to make it use-worthy (aside: What is a cover letter?), and start applying at places where I can actually use my skills. I’d like some office experience under my belt, and a bigger paycheck. With a bigger paycheck, I can pay off my debts and go back to school. I’m thinking something in the line of radio or TV broadcasting, because of how many compliments and comments I get about my voice.

Until then, though, I’ll keep drudging away at my daily dullery. :)
