(17:36) <+Lizking> cnn.com, Student suspended over call from mom in Iraq.
(17:36) <+Lizking> dude that’s fucked up

Yeah, you’re right. That is pretty messed up, Lizking. When a kid is at lunch, and receives a call from a family member in the Armed Forces, and you suspend him for refusing to hang up on a family member that is out there doing things for this country that YOU YOURSELF may not have volunteered for… You show how sad things are.

I’d understand the suspension a little better if he were in the middle of a class, talking on the phone, but they describe the call as being during lunchtime.

I’d curse you out myself if you start taking me down to the front office because I was talking to family that is out there defending YOUR country of residence during a lunch period.

Maybe I’m a little sensitive to the topic, given that I’ve had family that was in the military, and that I stay right outside of an Air Force Base… but that kid should not have been suspended.
If they suspend him for talking to his mother during lunch for 10 days, I hope they suspend the kids making booty calls, disrupting classes with their inane bullshit like fights, and other, more serious things, for just as long.

Kiddo, you’ve got my support, if e’er this floats your way.

If anyone’s still out there,

Could all of you with a LiveJournal account, please, please pester them to implement an Atom or RSS 2.0 feed for each user’s friends page?

It seems that the voice of one person cannot persuade them to add this well-needed feature, and is the root of one of my current valid gripes. If the friends page were a feed, rather than straight-up HTML, I could use it to replace the data that I receive from Planet WordPress (though I’d love to have it run alongside that. Perhaps if I get better at PHP) in my admin console, or use RSS2Email.py with a cron job to hit them once every couple of hours for info, rather than once per user I wish to read per couple of hours for info.

If I could also make it check a cookie, I could also read posts submitted in a locked state that I have access to.

Thanks.

Reinitialization.

Seems there are things that bother me about WordPress right now.
It’s not perfect, but it gets the job done better than I can.

No more opinions out of me about blogging software until I can actually write some decent code.

I will be … happy, when my Perl book arrives.
For the love of Dog, I hope I can make sense of it.

Night.
