August 2004

Gonna copy offa lj:cnipur: here, and do the little “Reply to this entry and I’ll tell you what I think of you” thing that’s been floating around.

So, yeah, yeah, reply. :p

p.s.: For those of you whimpering about ‘But you ask for my email address wahwahwah’, WordPress doesn’t even show your email address to anyone but me. And if I’m not worthy enough to have your email address, then I go cry now. :(

Check the list.
Seabird has been added, though it is in even more of a beta state than Salty Sea Chronicles.
I just need to figure out how to make excessively long <a> wrap, not go on and on, and add something that 1.2 doesn’t do by default to it (automatically make the ‘filed under: blah, blah2′ stuff as an inline(?) list), and then I can call it complete.

Now to ping Technorati and claim my own blog.

Okay. I’ve got to pimp these people, because not only do they use WordPress, but they do it in one of the most awesome ways ever.

blogthing has WordPress setup so automated that it’s hilariously funny to do.

All you need to do is hit the signup link, enter an email address that you can access, and they send you a link. The link will let you choose a subdomain, and then run WordPress setup as soon as you click it. The result is, you are given an admin password right there. Memorize it!!! because, as with every WordPress install, that password is randomly generated (unlike Em Tee), and can’t be recovered by normal means.

Enter the admin user/pass, and log in on the next page.
Feel free to create users for yourself or anyone else you wish to have blogging (I believe you can add plugins, to add features such as mobile blogging (blogging with pictures from a keitai), and using a separate account for that would be recommended…)), and enjoy the service!

I’m gonna give it a bit of a spin soon, using this account.

I’m already impressed with it, as well. Sure, they have ads, but the ads mostly fit in on the right side. :)

Well, I got around to making another style for here.

Based extensively upon the ‘gutenberg‘ style, I offer ‘Salty Sea Chronicles‘, a watery offering lightly peppered with Stock of Resurgere, flavored with a light touch of Firefox. Add to that a hint of Gimp and pngout, and bring it to a slow simmer.
Best served with a side of Iron Chef Chen Kenichi’s Ink Fried Rice (Cuttlefish / Aori Squid Battle). :3

The Firefox is artfully arranged on a bed of pngout, with Gimp. The Stock of Resurgere has a sprig of pngout resting atop its surface, as well — a light soup that packs many flavors to tease your tastebuds.

I rather like it, though it *is* on the darker side of things.
Perhaps I’ll grab a couple more

Pops 2: Passes, Emails, and Pops Reloaded.

I had gotten quite addicted to what seemed to be a little flaw in Prime’s email system here, recently. It would allow me to basically log in via Webmail, log out, FTP in, and grab the mbox file while I was at the library, enabling me to receive large attachments in a reasonable time frame again.

But it looks like our benevolent host has fixed that (I must not have been the only person to have had that issue :p — Or, he actually reads my blog (but doesn’t comment. Oh, come on, lj:gushi:, just one comment? You can also plug hosting while you’re at it! :3) and saw my note).

So, now I need to hunt down a way to get all my files into an mbox file, so I can carry my email home. It lets me plot my responses without tying up mother’s phone line.

On an aside, I start actually working tomorrow. I’m rather excited. :)

Today’s fortune:

LSD melts in your mind, not in your hand.

This is what I get for reading webmail via prime, with fortunes turned on. :D

Pass me by.
